Become a Monk

If you feel called to consecrate your life entirely to God through the monastic life in Beit Maroun, we invite you to discern this sacred vocation with us. The journey begins with prayer, honest self-examination, and a sincere desire to follow Christ in radical poverty, obedience, chastity, and commitment to the Word. Candidates should be in good physical and mental health, free from impediments, and willing to embrace our particular charism of asceticism, wilderness spirituality, and apostolic mission rooted in the tradition of Saint Maroun and the Syriac Antiochian Fathers.

The formation process unfolds gradually over several years: beginning with a six-month postulancy period, followed by two and a half years of novitiate (including the canonical year), leading to temporary vows for at least three years, and culminating in perpetual vows. Throughout this journey, you will be formed in prayer, Scripture, monastic discipline, the ascetic life, community living, and our missionary charism. Daily life includes the seven liturgical hours, Eucharistic celebration, contemplative prayer, manual work, spiritual reading, and progressive training in wilderness asceticism.

If you believe God is calling you to this life, we encourage you to contact us to arrange a visit, attend one of our retreats, and meet with our formation director to discuss your vocation. Come and see where we live, pray with us, and discern if the Lord is inviting you to become a member of Beit Maroun Servants of the Cedar of Lebanon.
